1948 Republican Convention, Philadelphia, Memorabilia Lighter.
Not sure about this. I've looked around for anything similar for years and haven't found anything.   It has gold plating (I don't think it's real gold, but who knows.) with the image of an elephant and "PHILA" along the top and "JUNE 48" Aat the bottom.  The Republic Convention was held in Philadelphia in June, 1948.
The top pops open when you press the button on the side and reveals what looks like a lighter. There is a screw at the bottom, so maybe you can fill it with lighter fluid. Also, it probably needs a new flint or something because it doesn't spark.
Anyway, this is what I came up with. If anyone has any better idea of what it is, please let me know.
